Adele has admitted that she'd love to get back together with the former boyfriend who inspired her hit album 21.

The singer, who's currently unwell and will soon undergo surgery on her vocal chords, has mixed feelings about what she's achieved.

'It's bittersweet because I wouldn't give up this success for anything,' saysAdele, 23.

'But at the same time, I'd do anything to be with him. I miss him. I do.'

Adele says her No 1 ballad Someone Like You is especially poignant for her.

'It's hard singing all these songs because it makes me remember how brilliant we were when we were good...and how tragic it was when we were bad,' she tells a US magazine.

'Even now, I get emotional performing Someone Like You. It was such an honest thing to write.'

You can't write a song like "Someone Like You" or the others on her album, and have never experienced the pain of having to lose someone you love.
This is why I adore her music.

It's so heartfelt and honest.
