It's Marie Curie's 144th Birthday today!
Born Marie Sklodowska in Warsaw, Poland, she eventually moved to Paris where she married physicist Pierre Curie and conducted research that would earn her two Nobel Prizes, one in physics in 1903 and the other in chemistry in 1911.
She advanced knowledge about radioactivity – a term she coined – by huge amounts and discovered two new elements, polonium and radium.
